There are times in all our lives when the difficulties we face become too hard to handle and you feel unable to talk to friends or family. It may be that you are stuck in a situation that is having a negative effect on the way you live your life.
If this is you, then counselling may be just what you are looking for……

In the service that I provide, YOUR wishes are priority. Whether as a couple or an individual, you are offered time and space, within a confidential, non-judgemental accepting setting to enable you to find the solutions to, or ways forward in your difficulties.

You will be offered a safe place to voice the thoughts, feelings and experiences you feel you have had to keep bottled up or that you are struggling to understand. You can use this time to simply offload or you may choose to use our time together to consider what changes you would like for your future. Whatever you choose to use the time for, you will be supported as you endeavour to create a more acceptable balance in the way you want to live.

As a counsellor, my aim is to enable you and your partner or indeed you alone, to gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of your difficulties and to help you negotiate a more satisfying way of living.
I can also help you to get through the difficult time of separating from a relationship, or support those whose relationships have already ended.

In these instances deeper exploration is encouraged. This involves looking to the past to shed light onto the present and ultimately to explore what you would like for the future and how to go about getting it.

To assist our exploration, I may invite you to work in a creative way such as; drawing a family tree or to use the stones provided to portray a particular scene or problem.
I am also open to incorporating other mediums of your choice which we would discuss and agree upon beforehand. I have found that working creatively can help, especially if you are at a loss for words or are feeling stuck. It can also help you to gain a deeper sense of clarity which can enable you to see what works well for you and what does not.

The invitation to work creatively is strictly optional, never expected or demanded.

I am a qualified and experienced relationship counsellor who has trained with and works for Relate. I have gained further experience in counselling couples and individuals in other settings such as Doctors Surgeries and Sure Start Projects. Furthermore, I gained a Masters Degree in Counselling at Durham University.

I offer an integrative approach to counselling from a humanistic perspective that acknowledges the past, present and future, emotions, thoughts and behaviours. What this means is, I will work with you in a collaborative way to explore and find solutions to your difficulties so you can create a life that is a more fulfilling one for you.

As a registered practitioner of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (B.A.C.P.) I am bound by its ethical framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.
